Sustainability across the
full product lifecycle

We use lifecycle assessments (LCAs) to analyze the environmental footprint of our products and make data-driven decisions on how to minimize our impacts.

How we are working with sustainability at every stage, from pre-concepting to the end of the product's life.

  • We work closely with our manufacturing partners to set decarbonization targets, switch to renewable energy and minimize manufacturing waste, and we use LCAs to identify the least carbon intensive manufacturing processes.

  • We are working to increase the energy efficiency of our video products, where the use phase is a big part of the products’ carbon footprint. To further reduce transport emissions, we are expanding ocean freight and local customization.

  • We are working to increase the energy efficiency of our video products, where the use phase it a big part of the products.

  • We work towards designing for disassembly and repair to keep products in use for longer and avoid e-waste going to landfill. We offer a repair service for selected products. In addition, we are in the process of expanding our sustainability service portfolio with a device-as-a-service and takeback offering.

  • Building on our rapidly growing portfolio of products containing recycled plastics, we focus on identifying further alternatives to virgin materials, including renewable, low-VOC and recycleble alternatives to all materials in our products.

Many Jabra products are TCO Certified, the only independent sustainability certification for headsets covering the full lifecycle of products. For a full overview of TCO Certified Jabra products, see here

Materials

Making our products all starts with our materials. Using more sustainable materials means we need to consider recycled, bio-based and low-polluting alternatives for plastics, metals, fabrics and the raw ingredients of electronic parts and batteries. By 2025 we intend to use over 50% of materials that meet our sustainability requirements in new products. We’re making progress towards this goal and have launched our first products that contain recycled plastics in 2023.

Packaging

We are on track to meet our 2025 target to have 100% FSC certified packaging ahead of time. In addition, we are aggressively phasing out virgin plastics in packaging and reducing the environment impact further through compact design. Through these efforts, we’ve made carbon savings as high as 84% on our packaging lines since 2018.

Looking ahead, we aim to drive our packaging footprint down further through scaling up local sourcing of packaging material and by working with suppliers on a more sustainable packaging setup across our supply chain.

Keeping resources useful, as long as possible

We make high-quality, durable tech that people love. But what happens next?

  • Once we’ve invested the Earth’s precious resources into making a product, we want to keep those resources useful for as long as we possibly can. Design is the key enabler for circularity. This starts with making products that last. Our focus on durability means our products are enjoyed by our users for years and years, if not decades. It also means using alternatives to virgin materials.

  • To support giving products a second life, we increasingly design our products for repair and disassembly. We offer return and repair for selected products as well as a ‘screen and clean’ scheme, where unsold or returned products are tested and repacked for resell. We are also in the process of investigating additional takeback and refurbishment solutions.

  • Circularity also means challenging conventional linear business models. We now offer a device as a service offering in selected markets with a built-in takeback option, enabling us to give products a second life at the end of the contract.
